    GKAISA City Meet 2019

    Hello Wahoos!!

It's the final week of the season! How did we get here so quickly? Our favorite meet of the year, GKAISA City Meet, is here!! As you know, days are different this year, and it's new for us all! The dates are Thursday, July 25 thru Saturday, July 27. 10 & under will swim on Thursday. This meet will start at 3 pm. Warm ups will begin at 1 pm (we don't have our specific time yet, but be prepared to be there by 1.) Worker meeting will be at 2:10 pm. at Clerk of Course. 11 & up will swim Friday. Meet will start at 9 am. Warm ups will start at 7 am (once again, we haven't been given our specific time.) Worker meeting is scheduled for 8:10 am at the Clerk of Course. Finals are on Saturday also starting at 9 am. If your child places in the top 16 in an individual or relay event on Thursday or Friday, he or she will come back to compete in the finals on Saturday. It is VERY common for relays to make it back even if you think there's no way!! We will try to send out results each evening, but please check the GKAISA website or the result sheets that will be posted before leaving the pool each day. If your child places 17th or 18th, they will be an alternate for finals. Often these alternates get to swim (especially in relays) so if your child is an alternate, it's important to keep updated.

We have received our worker assignments so please check out the website and sign up. I have split the day up into 3 sessions, but GKAISA doesn't really do that. You will just go relieve the worker in front of you at the appointed time. There will be no announcement. We will have the same lane all three days (lane 2 of the diving well pool.) Find someone to sign up with and work as timer and scribe! It's much more fun with a friend. Also, I added a 3rd shift for Thursday night from 7-9 pm, but I highly doubt it will go that late. I needed to do it just in case. Younger kid day usually doesn't go as long.

Just like Smoky, we will have a team tent. Our tent is in a great location right across from the Aquatic Center. It's easy to find, easy to drop kids off and unload, and easy to get kids to races! NO UNLOADING RIGHT IN FRONT OF ALLAN JONES! You will see our banner as you drive up. You drive past Allan Jones Aquatic Center, and we are up the hill on your right. Once again, bring chairs, coolers, games, etc. Settle in for a long day but not as long as Smoky! The Clerk of Course is at the back of the aquatic center where you will take your kids and drop them off to wait until their race.

This year we will be able to park in the UT parking garage across the street. Parking is $5 for the day, but if you leave, you have to pay again. There is no "pass." You just pay as you go. You may also choose to park in the metered spaces along the road, but on Thursday and Friday they may be monitored. Free parking is also located at the Metron/Kingston Building next to Tyson park. No shuttle will be available.

Please go to the website and sign up for shifts. GKAISA can't run this meet without parents! Have a great last week of practice! Good luck to all the swimmers and

    GO WAHOOS!
