Smokey Mountain Meet
Hello Wahoos,
We are so excited about Smokey Meet! It is really one of the most fun meets of the summer. I have some information to give you to get us ready.
1. Volunteer sign ups are ready. Please sign up for a position. If you work a shift you get a free swim day pass. This, again is a cool way to watch your kids swim up close.
2. Warm ups start at 7:35AM both days. We will be gathering at the tent and then going to the pool as a team. Plan to be at the tent around 7:15 AM. Make sure to bring camp chairs and blankets. Toys and games to keep kids occupied all day. Also make sure you pack a cooler with plenty of water, Gatorade, and food. The swimmers need to keep up their electrolytes and make sure they are eating through out the day.
3. Crestwood team tent is to the east side of the pool directly behind the pump house this year since they have sections that are off limits due to having to re-sod.
The timeline for the meet shows it starting right at 8:45 am. Although we can't know for sure when it will end (so many variables in a meet that big--especially outdoors) it looks like Saturday (11 & up) will hopefully end around 5:40 pm and Sunday (10 & under) will end hopefully end a little after 3:00.
If you don't have Twitter, you may want to get it for this meet. This is how they keep us updated as to which events are coming up and they are calling to Clerk of Course.

For those who haven't attended, this meet is quite different than dual meets. It's the largest outdoor meet in the country, if that gives you any clue!! Along with Twitter, there will be speakers placed around the tents calling out event numbers with 1st call, 2nd call and 3rd call. If your swimmers are not to the Clerk of Course tent by 3rd call, they may not be able to swim their event. It is up to parents to pay attention to this. The Clerk of Course tent is located right across from the pool. You will drop your child off there, and they will sit, in the care of other swim parents, until they swim. Don't worry! You'll get the hang of it!! Remember, if your swimmers are swimming relays, it's really important for them to stay the duration of the meet. Of course, we want all of our swimmers to stay and compete.
Thank you all so much! Go Wahoos!!
