    First Meet

    Hey Crestwood Families!

The time is here and tomorrow is already our first swim meet! We will have normal practice in the morning. I HIGHLY recommend that you bring your swimmer, because tomorrow will be all about meet prep.

Please have your swimmer at the pool no later than 4:45pm. Warm-ups will begin at 5pm and the meet will begin at 6pm.

Remember to dress out in red and blue!!!

I have published all the events for your swimmer on SwimTopia. Please download the app so you can help your swimmer see their event number, heat, and lane.

If you have been to swim meets before and you know the drill, then you are good to go!

Below, I am going to just outline a few questions I have been getting from a variety of different parents. I hope this will help some of our new families!

    1. Please make sure swimmers have a suit they feel comfortable racing in (and diving in). Swimmers should have goggles and a swim cap. If they do not want to wear a swim cap, please tie back any long hair!

    2. Please bring a sharpie or pen to write with. Please write your swimmers first initial and last name on their back shoulder. This makes it easier for the clerks to find swimmers. Many swimmers will also have their events, heats, and lanes written on their arm so they can easily check when it is time for them to swim. If you are new, find a swimmer or parent that can show you this wonderful process of temporarily tattooing our children with a bunch of random numbers!

    3. Swim meets are long. I am not going to lie or try to hide it! Especially for the little ones, it really begins to feel long! Bring tents, coolers, card games, extra towels, and anything to help kids stay occupied. If nothing else, they are always encouraged to come cheer on their teammates!!

    4. The expert moms on the team may have better advice on this, but from what I have seen, many families bring lots of water bottles, gatorades, fruits, pasta salad, candy, and a bunch of other yummy things! The snack shack is also open and we encourage y'all to support our pool and buy some snacks from there!

    5. If we have any kind of weather delay, PLEASE DON'T LEAVE. We WILL wait it out if at all possible and then continue the meet. You can wait in your car, but it is so hard for us coaches to figure out what to change if families leave.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

You are all making this summer so great and I just love Crestwood. Both Parker and I and all of our other awesome coaches are so excited to see everyone race tomorrow and we are looking forward to a successful season!

I am sorry you are receiving another lengthy email from me. I hope you aren't tired of them already because we still have a lot of summer ahead of us (:
