News + Swim Tests + Reminders

    Hi everyone!

    COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT:

I would like to share some exciting news! Back on our coaching roster by popular demand.... ALLISON BARCLAY!  Coach Allison is well-loved by all of us at Crestwood and procured a local summer internship. While we won't be seeing her full-time, I'm really happy that she's devoting all her free time to us! We are also welcoming a new assistant coach, Rachel Aycock. She is a great fit for our team and you can meet her on Sunday from 3-5.

Coach Breck and Coach Kelley Grace are moving into dual head coaching positions and have been working on big, fun plans for our Wahoos! John Isaac has resigned due to personal reasons. The board is excited to move forward with this fresh, enthusiastic group of Coaches.

SWIM TESTING FOR ALL 8 and Unders and Feeders:

Due to our large enrollment we have decided to begin swim testing early this year on THURSDAY 5/25 AND FRIDAY 5/26 FROM 9-11:00 A.M. This is how we will sort swimmers into groups so it is important! Please read FAQs carefully before emailing me :)

Sign up on Swimtopia (go to Upcoming Events, choose the session you want to attend, and sign up).

If you cannot make one of these early sessions we will still be testing by last name on Tuesday 5/30 (A-M) and Wednesday 5/31 (N-Z) during regularly scheduled practices.

If your child is older than 8 but they are new to swimming PLEASE register for an early session or email me to be scheduled if you’re not available for early testing.

    FAQs:

1.Q: Does my 8 and under who can definitely swim need to take a swim test?
A: Yes! Everyone who would like a chance to be in our 8 and under practice needs to take a swim test.

2.Q: What if my swimmer is DEFINITELY a feeder?
    A. YES! Take a swim test. We want to get to know your swimmer.

3.Q: What do I do if my swimmer “fails”?
A: They will be in feeder practice until they pass!

4.Q: What if we can't make it to any swim test due to vacation?
A: We will swim test them when they attend practice for the first time. Communicate this to a coach when they attend.

5.Q: My child is an 8 and Under but we only attend Evening Practice.
A: Evening practice requires the swimmer be fully independent in the water and can swim a minimum of one unassisted lap. They will be swim tested at the first Evening practice they attend. Please communicate this to a coach.
*Remember, there is no Evening session offered for Feeders.

    REMINDERS:

Coaches Meet + Greet is this Sunday from 3-5 at the pool. This event is rain or shine. All coaches will be in attendance. Merch will be available for purchase. Bring old suits/spirit wear for donation or swap. Bring fees and signed COVID releases (this is the only paper form you need to turn in).

Your swimmer will not enter the pool unless they have paid their Fees. Board members will be available to take fees beginning at 7:45 a.m. during the first week of practice. We will also be at the early swim testing. * This includes even our senior swimmers who drive themselves.

Swimmers 11 years old or younger are not allowed at practice without a parent or assigned guardian. This can only be a sibling if the sibling is 15+.
THIS IS A POOL POLICY, NOT A TEAM POLICY so do not ask us for exceptions.

Parents are NOT ALLOWED on the Pool Deck without specific, verbal consent from the coaches. This means you cannot sit poolside and watch your swimmer. Parents must remain behind the pool fence. Don’t worry, you’ll still have an excellent view of your swimmer from the pavilions, courtyard, or the baby pool area

Coaches cannot be tasked as your swimmer’s guardian. Nor can coaches be tasked with the non-routine care of your swimmer (i.e. giving medication, providing reminders for toileting, etc). They are responsible for the safety and well-being of all swimmers and need to be fully focused on coaching and safety. Coaches are fully trained to act in the event of any emergency; medical or otherwise, and cannot assume “parental” duties in addition.

You MUST exit the pool complex after the conclusion of morning practices. Even if you are a pool member and plan to stay at the pool you MUST exit the pool, sign in, and re-enter. This is a pool policy and ensures all our little ones are accounted for. This does not apply to Evening Practice.

Please make sure Alerts and Notifications are enabled in your Swimtopia App. This is how we communicate last minute schedule changes, weather delays, timely reminders, etc.

Please review the Code Of Conduct. This details our expectations of parents, swimmers, and coaching staff. (Attached)

    See you soon!
