Dear Wahoos,

What a great first week of swim we’ve had!! We hope your kids have enjoyed it. The coaches and swim board have been working hard to make this a great season. Thank you for your cooperation with registration, payment and signing waivers. GKAISA made this really easy for us this year, and we are thankful!

You may have noticed that we have quite a few little ones in lane 1 during “feeders” this season!! Lane 1 is our starter lane, and the kids there need the most help. We have taken this week to watch and assess what we feel like is necessary and adequate to ensure the safety of all our little feeders. We feel sure that we have come up with a good system, and we are confident in our coaches and helpers that your kids are in the best hands! If you haven’t noticed, we have some pretty great teens and coaches, and they love your kids. Starting Monday we will be enacting the rule that we talked about on the first day of swim. Parents or guardians (or older siblings) are not allowed on the pool deck during practice times (this includes the grassy area.) The reason for this is that your children, for the most part, do much better when they are depending on their coaches to lead them. Obviously, we understand your concern for your children who can’t swim yet. We’ve all been there! You are always welcome to stand at the fence at the baby pool and watch your little Wahoos learning to swim. They will probably beam in their independence! And so will you! 

Only 7 more practices until Intrasquad!! Your kids are going to love swimming in a meet if they never have before. We think we have the best coaches around, and they always make it fun! Please RSVP for that on the website if you haven’t already and also sign up to volunteer. You can feel free to ask Jill about job descriptions at the pool on Monday if you have any questions.

We will be placing our team t-shirt order soon. All swim team members, who have paid for the full summer of swim, receive a free shirt. If you signed up for a 2 week trial, please let us know by Wednesday after Intrasquad if your child will be continuing and pay the balance due. Soon we will need to know if you would like to order any extra t-shirts for other kids or adults in your home. We will also be placing an order for hoodies and tanks at that time. This will be in the next week or so.
