    Job descriptions for swim meet workers

    (and the number needed per session)

     

    Clerk of Course (8)- Each age group will have their own clerk of course. Your job is to gather kids in your age group and have them ready to go to the ready bench before their event. 

    Ready Bench (2)- Helps maintain order and get kids in their correct lane and heat as they move through the ready bench.

    Runners (3)- Takes completed race and finish slips from scribes and finish judges to the scoring table. Collects DQ slips when needed.

    Head Timer (1)- Communicates readiness of swimmers to starter and oversees timers. Times races along with times in case someone’s stopwatch messes up.

    Timers (3)- Time races (one lane only)

    Scribes (3)- Record race times onto race slips

    Finish Judge (1)- Records order of finish on finish slips

    Overcall Judge (1)- Same as finish judge but makes the final call if there’s a question 

    Relay Jump Judge (2)- Watches to make sure there are no false starts on relays

    Computer (1)- Computer entry and tally of results.

    Reader (1)- Sits with computer entry person of other team to call out entries.

    Sorter (1)- Sort race slips for scorers

    Ribbons (2)- Label and distribute ribbons and awards

    **Stroke and Turn Judge (2)- Looks for illegal activity in strokes of swimmers

    **Referee (1)- Determines disqualifications and oversees the meets

    **Starter (1)- Starts and calls racers

    Concession Stand (3)- Works in the concession stand at home meets

    Grillmaster (1)- Someone to man the grill and make hotdogs and burgers for the meet

    **Requires extra training.
