City Meet parking and such
Driving situation at City Meet: It's not that bad. Yeah, it's different than in years past but not awful. If you get there early (like before 7) the situation is MUCH easier. Drop off your kids easily and zoom down to Tyson Park and pick up the shuttle. Between 7-8 (when everyone is getting there) the situation gets a little more difficult. The red light at Allan Jones was not working well and traffic was backed up. You could still drop off and park, but the line for the shuttle was like 100 people long. So most people dropped all their kids, coolers, chairs, etc. and then parked and walked the mile up to our tent. Some parked at Wal Mart/Publix and walked over. That seemed to work well today, but I kind of wonder if people will get wise to that and do it more tomorrow and also if the stores will enforce not parking there. Who knows?? Just be aware.
If you drive in from Kingston Pike up Volunteer Dr., you will turn left at the light. Stop at the stop sign in front of the aquatic center. As soon as you go through that, pull over to the right. Our tent is at the top of that hill (right behind another one, but you'll see our flag.) Call for anyone to come help if you're a single parent for the day or whatever.
Little kid day is always a bit crazy. To add to the craziness, the street between our tent and the aquatic center is open to traffic. Stick to the crosswalks. Police are there to direct traffic, and they are enforcing jaywalking like crazy!! 😂
Have fun and GO WAHOOS!!!
