Still need workers for Holston Hills meet/please check job

Thanks to everyone that has already signed up to work our first home meet.

We still have lots of open slots for Thursday's meet.

Parents will be responsible for getting their own children to the blocks if all of the clerk jobs are not filled.

We also need Timers and scribes.

All families are expected to work at least one shift at each meet.  We have several families that work 4 or more shifts.
Please do your part to make our meet a success.  If you are new to a job, we will help you.  Just let us know.
Volunteer Job Descriptions are below as well as in the "Team Manual" on the website.

PARKING:  Please remember to park in the field in the back so we can save some parking spaces for our guests.  Do not park on any streets.  There is plenty room in back and in lot.

Finally, there is a good chance that I will not be at the meet.  I have been very sick all week.  Please sign up for your work shifts and pitch in and help Mary Zaczyk and Marga Hinsley so this meet will run smoothly and quickly.
Lets be a great host to Holston Hills.

    GO WAHOOS!

Age Group Clerk: This is the parent responsible for distributing event cards to swimmers in the age group for which they are responsible.  They also make sure that their swimmers get to the ready bench in time for their event. Clerk's are essential for helping the younger swimmers stay organized for their relays.

Runners: Card runners collect the event cards from the timers along with the finish judge results and
give them to the scorers table at the end of each heat.

Ready Bench: Swimmers in each event have an event card that lists the swimmer's name, team,
event number, heat number and lane number.
This information is on the swimmer’s event card.  It is the Ready Bench Clerk’s responsibility to make sure swimmers are in the seats behind the blocks of their assigned lanes. The clerks from each team should confer in order to combine or split heats when necessary. Age group clerks should help the clerk-of-course/ready bench to ensure younger swimmers compete in the correct event, heat, and lane.

Concessions: Concessions are a very important source of income for the team. Members of the
concessions team are responsible for selling refreshments and food at home meets. For each meet,
we will ask for concession donations and a few volunteers for the concessions stand.

Head Timer: The head timer is responsible for organizing and supervising timers for all meets. The head timer should assign each timer/scribe to a lane. The head timer normally times each event in a back-up capacity.

Referee: The referee has full authority over all officials and shall assign and instruct them before each
meet. The referee is also responsible for resolving all matters related to the conduct of the meet. The
referee may double as the starter or as a stroke-and-turn judge and should have at least one season's
experience in one of these positions before acting as a referee.

Sorters: Sorters are responsible for receiving the completed event cards and Finish Judges' results
and recording the appropriate placement of swimmers. The scorer determines the official time of the swimmer. We will provide training for our sorter volunteers.
